New Position: Information Systems Security Officer / ISSO in Virginia

Squadron Defense Group seeks a System Administrator to become part of the Squadron team. This position is for a part time, 1099 cleared consultant role within our cyber security business.

Position DESCRIPTION

The System Administrator is a hands on position that utilizes advanced knowledge of information assurance principles and regulatory guidance to develop, accredit, and maintain specialized information. SDG serves government and commercial clients across all domains. The administrator must have functional knowledge of the NISPOM, JSIG, and ICD governance.

SDG interprets the Office of the Designated Approving Authority (ODAA) Process Manual. Overseas the Certification & Accreditation (C&A) to obtain or maintain either an Interim Approval To Operate (IATO) or a final Approval To Operate (ATO) for classified information systems at the PL1-3 levels.

SDG assists the client ISSM in the development, implementation, management and oversight of the information assurance (IA) program and actively participates in the security engineering, system configuration/hardening and validation/certification testing of classified information systems in order to sustain compliance.

SDG functions as the ISSO for the classified system. Configuration management of information systems; ensure information systems audits are accomplished on a weekly basis and reports any anomalies to the ISSM and FSO.

Conducts certification test analysis and technical evaluations for vulnerabilities and apply security countermeasures to mitigate identified risks. Reviews hardware and software baselines are accurate and that Protection Profiles or System Security Plans reflect any changes since the original certification and accreditation.

Performs IS related incident investigations to include policy violation, insider threat activity and monitor system for inappropriate employee behavior on the classified IT infrastructure.

Position Requirements

  • Current Secret security clearance
  • Three to Five years of ISSO or comparable experience
  • Defense Security Service Chapter 8 certification
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows based environments (Windows XP, Windows 7, Server 2008)
  • Practical knowledge of security technologies (encryption, data protection, privileged access)

Desired, but not required

  • CISSP or CISM certified
  • COMSEC knowledge
